26.11.2010 Anglicare welcomes new Code of Practice

In reference to The Advertiser's front page report “Charities forced to open their books” (26/11/10). We welcome the new Code of Practice proposed by the state government to ensure a high quality of integrity and disclosure for all charities. However the claim that “Anglicare has examined how it could transfer donated funds to the church for sexual abuse compensation” is wrong. This was made clear to The Advertiser in a letter from Anglicare in May when this allegation was made. Anglicare SA cannot and has not paid any monies to assist the Diocese of Adelaide for the purposes of settling sexual abuse claims.
