Bringing a foster child into your world requires time and the ability to focus on what can sometimes be a very challenging role. Here are some things you might want to consider as part of your decision to apply to be a foster carer:
Are there any major issues you are dealing with in your life at present that may prevent you from giving your attention to the role of foster carer?
- Possible pregnancy or participation in an IVF program
- Recent bereavement
- Serious illness of a family member.
How would you feel about having a child in your life for a short time, and then having to return that child to the biological family?
Have you discussed the possibility of fostering with your partner and other close friends and relatives who may be affected by your decision? You will need their support!
Do you have the basic necessities for taking in a foster child?

- Transport
