Assistance Centre

Crisis can have a devastating impact on the lives of individuals, families and communities. It can occur at any time, in many different situations. The effect of a personal crisis often extends cross the many various aspects of our lives.

The Magdalene Centre offers a range of anti-poverty services which for many are the first steps toward regaining control of their lives. Our integrated approach enables us to respond holistically to individual circumstance. Our partnerships enable us to connect people in crisis with relevant programs and services.

Information, Advocacy, Referral & Crisis Support

Weekdays from 9am–4pm

  • Information on services and community activities
  • Advocacy & Referrals
  • Crisis support including food, material & financial assistance

Tenants Information & Advisory Service (TIAS)

Tuesdays from 9.30am–3pm

TIAS is a free service, providing information, advice and advocacy on tenancy matters to low-income tenants of private, public and community housing rental in South Australia — or people wishing to apply for it .

Legal Housing Clinic

Tuesdays 1–3pm
A free confidential legal service for clients who receive a Centrelink benefit or no income at all. The legal clinic can help people with a range of legal issues including criminal, family, tenancy, housing, fines, wills, and credit issues.

Financial Counselling

Financial counsellors assist people with a wide range of financial problems. They work with their clients to help them get out of the cycle of debt and take control of their finances. A financial counsellor will:

  •  help you get a clear picture of your overall financial situation
  • explain what options you have in relation to your debts and the advantages and disadvantages of them
  • may advocate or negotiate with creditors, government agencies and others
  • will listen and provide support

No Interest Loans (NILS)

Interest free loans for individuals and families living on a low income. NILS can be accessed to purchase essential households items like a fridge, washing machine, or a bed.
