Eligibility for TIAS

TIAS may be able to assist you if you are:

  • A tenant or applicant of Housing SA
  • Renting privately, with a household income of less than $40,000 per annum
  • A member, non-member, tenant or applicant of a Housing Co-operative or Housing Association

TIAS can assist with any issues related to your tenancy such as

  • Leases
  • Bond disputes
  • Maintenance
  • RTT processes
  • Appeal processes
  • Negotiations with your housing provider e.g. rent arrears
  • Housing SA Relocations and Transfers

TIAS cannot advocate for you, but may still be able to provide you with advice or general information if you are:

  • A resident of a boarding house or rooming house
  • Purchasing your own home
  • Living in a caravan park or residential park
  • Seeking emergency accommodation
  • A landlord
  • An agency or organisation
  • A homeowner
  • Living in private rental and your income exceeds $40,000

What TIAS cannot do is:

  1. TIAS does not write support letters
  2. TIAS does not provide support to keep your tenancy
  3. TIAS does not provide emergency accommodation. You may be able to get help from:
    1. Family Accommodation and Information Referral Service (FAIRS) on 1800 003 308
    2. SYC Trace-A-Place (if you are under 25 years of age) on 1300 306 046
    3. Housing SA on 131 299
    4. Domestic Violence Crisis Services (when escaping DV) on 1300 782 200
    5. Crisis Care (after 4.00pm) on 13 16 11.
  4. TIAS does not provide any financial assistance.
  5. TIAS is not a legal service, however you can contact a Legal Practitioner, or the Housing Legal Clinic at the following locations:

  6. TIAS does not assist with compensation claims.  You will need to contact a legal practitioner or Housing Legal Clinic (details above).
  7. TIAS does not assist with insurance claims, but can provide information and advice.
  8. TIAS does not get involved with disputes between neighbours.  We can provide you with information and advice on the processes and procedures to try and resolve these.
