Family Support Team

There is no such thing as a typical family. Parents face all kinds of challenges in raising their children.

And some of us need help.

Anglicare’s Family Support Team has been working with families for more than 30 years, and is at the cutting edge of helping parents to be better parents.

We work with single parent and couple parent families, with one child or many. We work with families from all walks of life, with very young children and teenagers. We work with families where the parent or child has a disability, or mental illness.

Family Support workers go into people’s homes, and work beside families for a couple of hours a week, for up to six months.

The Family Support team includes specialist men’s support workers, to work with fathers and families having difficulties with boys.

We start with a family’s strengths, what they do well, and help them develop their own goals. We believe that every family is their own expert.

Parents are referred by Families SA or other agency, or can refer themselves.

Our goal is to encourage parents to be confident and effective parents, to provide them with a set of skills and strategies they can use to manage better as parents, and help them enjoy their children again.

The Family Support Team works throughout the metropolitan area, from Barossa to Port Willunga. We also host groups for parents, on parenting skills and therapeutic writing courses.

For more information, download our brochure and information on the men's progam, or call us at our Kent Town office on 08 8131 3410.

To make a referral to the Family Support Team, call our office on 8131 3400 and ask for the Family Support Team.
