Anglicare to provide new children’s program worth $2.8 million

Anglicare is delighted with today’s announcement by Minister Jenny Macklin that Anglicare is preferred provider for the Communities for Children Plus initiative for the Playford local community worth $2.8million over three years.
At the same time, Minister Macklin also announced an additional $250,000 in funding from the Federal Government to continue Anglicare’s successful Communities for Children initiative in the Onkaparinga region.
Communities for Children in Onkaparinga delivers early learning and literacy, early development, parenting and family support and child nutrition services, along with family community events to families in the local area.
The Communities for Children Plus initiative will deliver a more coordinated approach between child and family services, state child protection authorities and adult services for parents where there may be a higher risk of child abuse and neglect.
Anglicare Chief Executive, Lynn Arnold says, “The announcement by Minister Jenny Macklin today will ensure that further services and support are available to those in our community who need it most.
“The Communities for Children Plus initiative is a positive way federal and state government can work with agencies such as Anglicare.
“The additional funding received for the Communities for Children program in Onkaparinga will be used to strengthen and expand their current services.
“Anglicare firmly believes that early intervention and prevention strategies are the best way to achieve positive outcomes for children and families in disadvantaged areas.
“Anglicare sincerely thanks the Federal Government for the support and recognition of these important initiatives,” Lynn said.
