Emergency Assistance

At Anglicare’s three family centres, in the north, south and centre of the city, emergency help is available for people and families on the edge.

Emergency relief can be

• Food vouchers
• Food parcels
• Telstra voucher to help pay phone bills
• Help with utility (power or gas) bills
• Interest Free Loans
• petrol vouchers
• prescription (medication) vouchers; or
• bus tickets

Appointments fill very quickly. We advise you to ring as close as possible to 9am on the day.

At Elizabeth, call 1800 061 551 weekdays. The Food Barn at the Elizabeth Mission also offers free lunches on weekdays

At Salisbury Old Rectory, call 1800 773 277 Tuesdays and Fridays only.

At The Magdalene Centre, 42 Carrington Street Adelaide, no appointment is necessary and the centre is open 9am-12.30pm weekdays. Call 8305 9389

St Hilary’s Morphett Vale is open weekdays 9am–12.30pm, call 8392 3190 (please note new number from May 2006)

Emergency relief centres can also help with household debts, and counselling on managing finances and budgets. There is a no-interest loan scheme for people on low incomes, for important household equipment like whitegoods, or health equipment. Strict conditions apply, for more information call
