Housing
Anglicare offers a number of programs to help people
remain at home.
TIAS (Tenants' Information and Advocacy Service)

Tenants Information and
Advocacy Service (TIAS) is a state-wide service for
people on low incomes. The service is for people who are
renting in the private rental market; and tenants or
applicants of Housing SA, Housing Co-operatives and
Associations.
TIAS provides free and independent information, advice
and advocacy.
TIAS acts on behalf of residents for things like:
appeals, bond assistance, complaints, debt, eviction,
extra persons, home purchase, housing applications,
maintenance, membership issues, relocation, transfers
and waiting lists.
For callers in Adelaide, call TIAS
on (08) 8305 9459. Country callers can call us toll free on
1800 060 462. If you prefer to email, the
email address is

At
the launch of the new service for tenants on 28 March,
the State Minister for Housing Jay Weatherill caught up
with Mrs O'Hara, a tenant who was pleased with the
support she had received from Anglicare.
In the northern suburbs, Anglicare has a number of
other programs:
NEW! from 1 March 2008
Retirement Village Residents Advocacy
Service is a free, state-wide, service for retirement
village residents who are in dispute with their village
manager or administering authority, would like to have
some personal support, assistance or representation at
meetings or the Residential Tenancies Tribunal in
attempting to resolve the dispute and are not able to
have that support provided by a family member or friend.
The Retirement Village Residents Advocacy Service can
contacted directly by phoning 8305 9440 on Monday-Friday
9am-5pm or by email: revras@anglicare-sa.org.au. The
Service is funded by the Office for The Ageing and being
trialled from 1 March 2008.
The Service does not provide information
about retirement villages. That can be obtained from
the Seniors Information Service (SIS) on 8232 1441;
South Australian Retirement Villages Residents
Association (SARVRA) on 8232 0422; or Office for The
Ageing on 8207 0413 or access their Information Sheets
from the OFTA website:
www.familiesandcommunities.sa.gov.au.
Northern Family Accommodation
Northern Family Accommodation offers
information, advice and support to families who are
homeless or at risk of homelessness. The service also
provides support and medium term accommodation to
families in one of the NFA properties in Playford and
Gawler, and can continue to support families after
having secured affordable accommodation, if they need
help to address issues which may put their tenancy at
risk.

Supported Tenancy Program
The Supported Tenancy Program (STP) helps
individuals and families who are at risk of eviction or
homelessness.
The STP can help with budgeting, improving your home
condition, practical support, improving life skills and
parenting, or it can refer you to other services which
may be applicable. A housing support worker will work with you weekly or
fortnightly, and groups are available for support and
friendship, too.
The STP program is only available if you are a tenant
of the SA Housing Trust and you have been referred to us
by your housing manager. Participation is voluntary, and clients work with us
for up to six months. It is free and confidential.
