Copenhagen was a bunfight but we can still do our bit.
While world leaders struggle to come to an agreement at the Copenhagen climate summit, residents of Adelaide can make a difference, starting at home.
Anglicare‟s new green initiative, AngliGreen, will help to reduce greenhouse emissions without costing a cent. AngliGreen, run in partnership with Low Energy Supplies and Services, will supply energy efficient products to thousands of households across Adelaide.
Anglicare has 15 trained installers ready to supply and install a variety of products at no cost, including
- 8 x energy-saving light bulbs (valued at $56)
- 1 or more water-saving showerheads (valued at $24 each)
- 1 x installation of free ceiling insulation (valued at up to $1600)
Lynn Arnold, Chief Executive of Anglicare said, “this program will not only provide a number of employment opportunities throughout Adelaide, but it will also work as a fundraiser for Anglican parishes.”
“Whilst the climate summit in Copenhagen is an important step in tackling climate change, there are a number of things individuals can do locally that will make a difference in reducing carbon emissions.”
“The AngliGreen project not only helps the community, but helps our environment too”, Lynn said.
The project is being delivered under the South Australian Government‟s Residential Energy Efficiency Scheme (REES) which is working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
