Y Connect

Y Connect

Y Connect provides service to Flexible Learning Options (FLO) students, a DECS initiative, designed to provide a more flexible enrolment option for students who are at risk of not completing Year 12.
Y Connect uses a strength-based case management approach — we help the young person identify what they are good at and what they like, and work from there.

The work plan is flexible and individual, and our staff help the young person to develop a timetable while supporting them to maintain stable relationships and accommodation.

The young person may need referrals or support to other learning programs or relevant service providers.

Group work with young people is part of the service too, and works on things like life skills, literacy and numeracy.

The service is for students at risk of disengaging from school from Year 6, and up to 17 years of age. They are referred from their school through the Department of Education and the Department of Education and Children’s Services.
